I have a request to make a white cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting. I've never made a cake this way and dont have time to do a test but dont want to make a cake that doesnt taste good. Has anyone made/tried a cake with this combination and if so what was your opinion. Thanks

icon_sad.gifI wouldn't put those flavors together, but....

Unless your customer asked what you think about how it would taste, do what they request and don't question it. Some people have weird senses of what tastes good to them. You don't want to offend someone if they think that is good. And - if they don't like it, at least you delivered what they ordered!

IMHO!!!

Ive never done this combo, but I think that if you put make the cream cheese sweet enough it should be alright. I don't mean super sweet or anything (maybe about 3/4 cup-1 cup icing sugar to 8oz pkg), but it sounds alright to me !
Good Luck !!

When I make a combination like that I usually just do a white cake and put cream cheese in my buttercream. It tastes WONDERFUL! I have tried the cream cheese filling that you can buy in the cake supply stores - the clear plastic bag of cream cheese filling - and it was too sharp tasting. Almost had a bite to it. But if you make it yourself (or cheat and add a couple of tubs of Betty Crocker Cream Cheese frosting to your buttercream) you will be very happy with the results.

My carrot cake I put cream chees on the top and also put icing sugar in to make it taste good/ delicious. Must be sweetened though.

I think it would be yummy with homemade cream cheese icing as the filling. ( cream cheese added to the buttercream). Of course I LOVE cream cheese in anything!
