I like tiered cakes (if you are comfortable with making those), fondant accents like the heart shapes or diamonds or the flowers. You could use colors that are the girls favorite on the cake to make it pretty but fun, whimisical, maybe with the funky fondant roses. Maybe make each of their intials using royal icing to put on the cake. Maybe a tier for each girl with the main color the one the like and the accent color the one their sister likes then switch for the next tier.

How about incorporating the poem.....

Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone
but still miraculously still my own
never forget for a minute
you didn't grow under my heart, but in it.

I am adopted and this poem was written in my baby book. Can't wait to see what you do.

My son Brandon was very proud of his adoption certificate and showed that off to everyone at his adoption party. That might be an idea to incorporate.....with lovely ribbon and everything. Kind of official in a way.

I would suggest that you get a copy of the final decree of adoption and make it into an edible image. I would form it in the shape of a crooked type book page if that makes any sense.. O.K. Doug, help me out with a drawing. Picture this, the certificate will originally be on 8x14 legal paper. Shrink it down depending on your pan size and kind of cut it uneven at the top and bottom. The sides would be pink with maybe pink bows at each corner or pink roses. I can see it I'm just not doing a good job of explaining. Sorry!!!

"Two Princesses All My Own"

Pillow on each side with a tiara, picture (family pic, pic of girls, or adoption cert) in the center with curling ribbons laid all around like confetti.

Just a thought...

A house cake with the saying "Welcome Home ________ and _______"

You could incorporate it with the adoption poem above.
