Hey-- I'm needing a little feedback b/c my husband said I was charging too much for a fondant bow-- (I'm only charging an additional $5)-- what do you think? I'm talking about the ones with many loops. It would be a decent size, for an 8in. cake.

I'd love to hear how you all price-- thanks!

$15 is certainly not too much, $5 is certainly too little. But this is just my opinion. How long would it take you to put one of these together. Cutting and assembling all those loops would take quite a long time. You'd only be getting something like $1 per hour on your work once you take out your costs out!
I would charge $20.00 and up.

I charge at least ten dollars for any loop bow. Thats a lot of work for only five dollars, not to mention the cost of the fondant or gumpaste.

I think $20.00 sounds like a fair price. It would also depend on the size of the bow. I know one shop in DC that charges 75.00. What I don't know is how many takers they have at that price.

$20 - $25 definitely! Between the cost and the time it isn't worth making it for any less!

Wilton now has a premade fondant bow. I have seen it at Walmart for close to $17.00. I would think you could sell it for at least that much or possibly more. icon_smile.gif

I just made one this weekend. And I would certainlly chrage more than $5 for it. $5 wouldn't even cover the cost of buying the fondant for me. Plus I airbrush mine with pearl dust (though today it was gold luster dust) so that is added expense for me. And I used a textured rolling pin.

I'm going to agree with those that say $20. Again it does depend on the size of the bow. Some of the bows I have done I would charge more than $20 for. icon_smile.gif

I use everclear, but Vodka would work. I really like everclear since it dries so fast, but I know that not everyone can get it where they live.

Thank you!! I really like making bows. When I made my first one I made enough loops that I ended up wtih two bows. One of them I used for my grandmother's bday cake and she saved it for years, until my cousin's kids finally picked it apart.
