I need to make pink champagne cake now and I'm all out. Has anyone used unseasoned applesauce with the pink champagne cake? will it alter the flavor?

You can melt some butter then measure out the same amount that you would use for oil.

BUMP -

Sorry cannot help, I use applesauce for a lot of stuff but never in a cake like this.

Is there any way you could use butter?

Any lights outside? What I mean is: are any of your neighbors still up maybe you could borrow some??

Good Luck

A pastry chef friend of mine had mentioned before.......If you dont have eggs or oil.....use mayonaise. Its the same thing.....essentially. Thats what she said anyway ! =) HTH

Butter will work well... but don't forget that a butter-based cake will firm up quite a bit in the fridge, just in case thats what you were planning.

CCr's is like talking to my mom. I had forgotten about the Mayo. I used to love that choc mayo cake. I wonder if Mirical Whip would work instead?

I've used both mayo and applesauce in cakes when I ran out of oil. There is no "taste" at all and the cakes are really moist and GOOD! Mayo cakes seemed a little firmer to me than the applesauce cakes, though.
