Made a surprise cake for a friend who was coming over tonight since his birthday was earlier this week. Turned out well I thought, but the guy on top caught on fire when we lit all 52 candles. icon_eek.gif

Oh well, he enjoyed his cake anyways.

OMG! LMAO! I'm sorry that happened but it does make a great story to tell. Was it just the cookie part that caught fire or the whole entire thing?

Hey, That happened to me too! It was a seven tier wedding cake, with candles spiralling around... Painful story, I posted it in the cake disasters forum.

I know how you feel.

Please don't think I'm being rude, but I think it's so FUNNY!!!! Especially after seeing your cookieman with a "let me outta here!" facial expression icon_lol.gif

We all laughed at it too... just the cookie caught fire as I was carrying the lit cake into the dining room. Was especially funny when our friend started making comments about me feeling the need to burn him at the stake for being so old.

My kids helped blow out all the candles before anything else caught on fire and since we were going to eat it anyways, didn't really matter. If anything else, just made the cake that much more memorable.

Tasted yummy, it was a white cake I torted into 4 layers with a ton of coconut cream filling. So yummy, that several people at the impromptu gathering started enquiring about getting cakes of their own!
