I am definitely trying the Viva paper towel trick on my cake this afternoon! I have the hardest time getting my icing completely smooth with just a spatula. I can't wait to try this method I've read so much about on here!

This is place is awesome!!

I've used this method of smoothing my cakes since I started, and I love it. It takes all the frustration out of trying to get a smooth surface.

I always have to hide my Viva papertowels in the back of the cupboard though, because I buy cheaper papertowels for use around the house, but it never fails -- I go to the cupboard, only to discover that the Viva is gone!

I only use one paper towel and generally end up cutting the towel into smaller pieces. I found as long as you let the icing crust so it isn't sticking to the paper towel you can just move one piece around.
