I am making a grey tombstone cake tonight. I had it all iced and ready to decorate and my DH accidentally dropped a spoon on it and dented the icing. It wasn't a big dent so I tried to smooth it out. Well it smoothed out but now the icing where I smoothed it looks pink!!!
What can I do? I don't have any more grey icing (I turned it all black for the decorating) and I don't want to make another batch if I can help it.
Anyone know what to do?
thanks!
Ashlee
turn the dent into a chunk of missing tombstone -- so put some black on it and a few lines radiating out like it's cracked ---
after all I bet it's an "so old, you're dead" type of b-day cake.
-----
don't know the full design --- but....
for extra silly ---
actually cut that dent out --- take out a nice hunk of cake
and then have a fondant torso, arms/legs, no head, lying on the grave in front of the cake
cut out chunk (painted black) is where the head "should" be.---
oops -- old age sure is a killer!
Can you cover up that spot with some type of EXTRA decoration?
Or do you have any white leftover icing you could tone the black with?
Also dont forget to hide all the spoons from you DH next time you make a cake! ![]()
Or did he really just want a taste! ![]()
Good Luck. ![]()
OMG I AM DYING HERE!!!!! Doug you are TOOOO FUNNY!!!!! Those are some awesome ideas.
Unfortunately this cake is for a bachelorette party...I don't know where people get some of their ideas...who am I to judge? I just make the cake ![]()
I just scraped the white bowl and made enough grey patch to cover up the 'pink' spot. Wilton Black sucks!!
Now I have some great ideas if I get an over the hill cake, though!!
Thanks everyone!
Ashlee
