I am making a display wedding cake for the Michaels I work at. I decided to do cornelli since I needed the practice. I like the way the cornelli came out, plus that was the first time I did that string work on the bottom and I do think it came out great. Here is my question though, does it look better this way or would it look better if I painted the fondant blue and did white cornelli? I see more examples of that in the gallery and I really do like the look. No it wouldn't be too much to change it as I have only done the one laywe and it is only a 6 inch. Opinions? Change it or leave it? Thanks.

Love it the way it is, would be interested to see it in blue with white, but it's YOUR cake!!

I like this but it looks incomplete. Are you putting something on top? A bow in the blue would look great or a cluster roses in blue and white?

you have a great concept with this cake. Your asking opinions and mine are these. First your right, blue would look great for the fondant and do the cornelli in white. You might make your lace "tighter" or smaller and drop your garland down closer to the bottom. Your work is neatly done and it's a beatiful idea.

I was thinking of white roses mixed with blue forget me not's. Either that or I was going to "store use" a wedding topper for it. It will be 3 tiers.

Ok. I did the second tier as suggested, a little closer together and with a smaller tip. Took a bit longer, but it did come out better. I then cleaned off the top layer and painted it a matching blue. I will do the same to the bottom tier, then do the lace and strings in white on those two layers. Still not sure about the top if I will do flowers or a topper. We'll see. Here is the better layer.

I agree with the white on blue. I think that would be very pritty! I havent tried the corneli lace yet but the word "dainty" comes to mind when I think of how it should look. I also like the idea of the flowers on top in blue and white. I cant wait to see it finished! Great job!

I also would like to see what the white on blue would look like. You did an excellent job with your string work!

I agree that white on blue would be pretty. BTW, your stringwork is great, and so is your lace. Good job!

I work at the Michaels in Millbury Mass. I am planning on having it done before my class on Teusday next week. The only problem I am having is trying to figure out what to put it inot to protect it. I ws thinking of something like a clear plastic.plexi box but the store doesn't have one that size, so I will have to figure out where else to get one. Anyone know?
