A PM will remain in your Outbox until it's opened/read by the recipient. Then it will move to your Sentbox.

Thanks again. The cake is a stand in cake. Most of the cakes are stand ins. If it is sculpted then it needs to be real cake. I did not seal it or anything. It just dried rock hard like a display cake. I will let you know when I feel the super star status!! I just one of the gang who loves making cakes and sharing things I know!

so the cake is what some call a "dummy cake"? so i have the same question i've been asking myself all night (after watching sugar rush's sugar molds) all that sugar does attract bugs (she said she had 1 of those molds for 17 yrs????????

did i make sense?

Yes it is truly a humbling feeling to know that so many people have seen this cake! bugs in the molds do mean or bugs in general?? Everyone jokes that I have the sweetest house on the block!

moydear77, is that satin fabric on the cake, or some sort of painted fondant. if real satin, how would you do that for a real cake that will be eaten?

The entire cake is covered in fondant. The fabric starts at the very base of the cake. Good match in color in the day time but at night you could see which was which. The pleating on the cake is just colored fondant with super pearl brushed on the entire cake. As far as eating it there is a lot of fondant so you would most likely remove the pink fondant before service. This is a designer cake and whoever is really paying the money for it wants the look.

thanks again!

Maybe sugar ants with all that sugar lying around! I have them in a room that seems to be fine!

The satin from the base down took me forever to find! Five stores later I found it and blessed the cake gods!

<<picks jaw up off the floor>>...So...The 'fabric' on the cake is fondant and the fabric NOT on the cake is fabric? Oh my, that is quite a talent....

Yes all the "fabric" that swags to the side is all fondant. If you look close the satin is tucked under the cake. So everything from the very base and up is fondant! Thanks!

Sorry guys, I went to sleep on the post last night so I didn't get to respond to:

daltonam yes I'm still laughing icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
but "with" you, not "at" you! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

MaryAnn, I am completely taken aback. You don't seem like the stalking type. I'm going to have to file a PM restraining order on you now.

(btw MaryAnn:

Your fondant and satin match is completely perfect. The whole ensemble is so very Grace Kelly. Lovely!

It is funny that you mentioned Grace Kelly--- My original dress was The wedding Dress of Grace Kelly. It was at a museum on the east coast. I could not get better images so I went with the cake I did. Thanks so much for all the kind words-It is nice to have people be excited about cake as much as I am!

I'm wondering if the lids are made of pastillage. It is considered a sugar dough and dries very hard. I would love to know how to make those boxes so if anyone knows please pass on the info.

Also, Mary Ann your cake is gorgeous!
