Is MMF really really sticky even after it has been mixed? I had to mix it by hand and it was incredibly sticky and still is even after it's all mixed. Should I put flour down on my counter and knead it? Os use Conf. Sugar and knead it? This is my first time making the MMF. What an experience.

I would use a little powdered sugar and knead it in... Or I have even had success with using shortening on my borad and hand while kneading... let it sit for a bit too (well covered of course) and that may help too

I've never mixed it by hand before, only in my KA - but it usually isn't sticky when I'm done. It's soft and needs to set up a bit though.

I agree with aliciaL - try some more pw sugar and then grease up with crisco.

Good luck

MMF should not be sticky, this is when you know you have added enough sugar. I start mixing my in my KA and then finish it off kneading the sugar in it on the counter. It does take a while, but I think it is well worth it and one batch makes a bunch.

If your MMF is sticky, just like previously said, add more sugar and knead again, cover with saran wrap tightly and let sit for alittle. I always grease my surface area and hands with crisco. I love this fondant. thumbs_up.gif

I agree with everyone else about adding more powdered sugar. If it's still a little on the sticky side when you go to work with it, try cornstarch on your counter/hands/rolling pin instead of shortening.

I have found that if the day is humid that sometimes playing with it too much can make it get sticky. I putit in saran and let it sit for a while then it is ok.
I was adding a ton of powdered sugar to it so it wouldn't be so sticky, but then it would cecome too dry. If you have already added more then the recipe calls for and you know you have followed the recipe exactly then you might just want to let it sit for a while.
Also, it does work a lot better if you dont' use it right after you make it. I let mine sit for at least a couple of hours.
