Hi everyone!

I just joined today and I am really wanting to get started in making cakes. I was wondering if anyone had an "essential tools" list that one would need to get started.

Any help would be appreciated! thumbs_up.gif

Welcome to CC jillyd317!! You are gonna love it here, I can't seem to say away=) If you are asking for "tools" for basic cake decoration(like just using BC icing)...

piping bags
some basic tips for the bags(can buy more as you go along)
a long spatula(I have off-set one)
serrated knife(sharp one for shaping/torting)
turn table(on my list to get, but others say they can't live without one!)
some color gels/pastes(for tinting icing/fondant)
a few different sized cake pans
cooling rack
That is all I can think of right now.

Now if you are thinking of getting into fondant/gumpaste there is more stuff for that, but I will let the fondant/gumpaste experts help you with a list=)

Also make sure you check the articles page(I will put the link up). Has really great tutorials for cake decorating!! Jen
