Thank you to whoever it was that posted about the PaY Pal scam a few weeks back. Without it we would have scammed. Yesterday we received an email confirming our payment for phones to the tune of $399. There was a place on the email asking if we dispute this. If so to fill out all our pertinent info. drivers license, social security, credit card numbers etc. If this happens to you be forwarned. And whoever you were many Thanx

Yep, I get this all the time. Mostly from someone claiming to be Ebay. It can really be tempting to click on some of those emails to see exactly what it is that someone is saying that you purchased, etc. I almost have a couple of times. Especially if I am selling something on eBay or if I've inquired about an item up on auction. You really do have to be careful. It's such a shame that people will try to steal your information. It tends to take the joy out of the auctions.

Very good reminder! On saturday I received three spoof emails. One was supposedly from Paypal and the other two were from Wells Fargo Bank.

I thought it was funny that I got two emails from Wells Fargo stating that there may be a problem with my account. I needed to confirm purchases made online with my account. The real kicker.... I have Never had an account with Wells Fargo. These people evidently didn't do their research LOL.

If you get any email asking for information, NEVER click on a link. Expecially if that company has very personal information of yours. Open up a new internet window and type in the address of the company. Then go to your account information. I do not know a company that does not have an mail area for information to you from them. This is how you will find out it the email is true.

Always be careful of any email stating that something may be wrong with your account. I know it can be an emotional time if it says something is wrong with your money, but please PLEASE always make sure you log into the appropriate website by typing it into the address bar of a new internet window.

Spamkiller is a help, you don't even have to look at those things. You still have to be so careful, though.

i was receiving nonstop fake e-mails from chase. they wanted all the information.
The funny part is that i don't even know this bank. icon_smile.gif i have always reported these e-mails to the real chase abuse department. and also as junkmail in msn. it took 3 months to stop receiving them.

I missed the one a few weeks ago but I'm thankful for the warning, this way I can avoid my MIL freaking out. She gets spam about her paypal account all the time but has never had an account. She won't even order stuff from places she has accounts with online and freaks out when my FIL puts in for his deer tags online every year. She worries about everything and identity theft is a huge worry of hers. Every few weeks she calls us sure that someone has stolen her identity because of the spam even though we've explained to her it's junk.
