Ok, so I have that tool that's supposed to help you, but....I just can't get it to do right. icon_confused.gif

I'm gonna be doing a wedding cake, and I'd like to do some lace/ruffle swags like this:

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&&file=displayimage&&pos=18135

They told me to do whatever I wanted. Ok, scary! I mean, I did a cake like that before, where they told me to do whatever......but that was for my cousin! I don't know these people!!!!!

Any help, please???????

Do you have the divider mat? if so determine how many swags you want , for example if you have a 12" cake and you want 4 swags center your cake on the mat, find the number four on the outer ring of the mat and follow it to your cake, make a mark, find the next 4 make a mark and so on until you have all of the fours marked. now determine howdeep you want your swag by holding the garland maker near the cake with the start and finish at 2 marks that you have made on the cake. Once you have the depth you want just press the garland maker into the cake with matching up your marks. If you want the swag down the cake just measure the distant and mark that.

Hey, that cake looks familiar! icon_wink.gif

I used the cake dividing wheel to mark the width of the swags, and a ruler to mark the depth of the swags. That garland maker tool you mentioned is worthless, IMO. I much prefer to use a ruler. icon_smile.gif
