I make my own - take a brand new knee high stocking and cut it into 1/3's, take one section of that and tie off one end of it - fill it with either cornstarch or powdered sugar and then tie the other end off - WALA - you have one! icon_wink.gif

A dusting puff is something for cornstarch to keep fondant from sticking to the foam, cutting guide, rolling pin, etc. I made mine by tearing off a small piece from an old sheet, filling it with cornstarch, and putting an elastic around the top, tightly. You just need to make sure the material is thin enough for the powder to come through, but not so thin that it's falling out everywhere. The sponge and thin material you are referring to are the foam squares you will use to mold your fondant roses. HTH!!

One of the lady's on here gave us her way of dusting... I use a new, washed, terry washcloth...fill it with powder sugar and corn starch...gather the corners and twist it together... i use a rubberband to hold mine.... works like a gem too..
then you dust whatever you need to...countertops, rolling pin, cake lifters...etc.

I have two dusting puffs - one for sugar and one for cornstarch. I use different colored stockings for each so I can tell them apart quickly. When not in use, I store them in those tiny Ziploc plastic containers.

I store mine in the zipoc bags - keeps them dust free and easily stored too!

I also use a stocking for my dusting puff. My wilton instructor suggested it. I store mine in a ziploc plactic container as well. Works great!

I use Handi-wipes for making dusting puffs.
