I'm making my son's birthday cake for tomorrow. (he will be 7) It's an 11x15 sheet cake with the sports ball made into a bowling ball. The ball is going to be green (his request) and he wants me to do it in stars.
I'm going to put the ball on the sheet cake but I don't really want to have the sheet cake in just plain white buttercream. I have the color mist spray and was thinking of using that to lightly spray the sheet cake with the green spray. I've never used it before and was wondering if anyone else has and did you like the way it turned out? Also, if I do spray the cake with the green, what color should I write Happy Birthday in?
Thanks for your help!!

Diane

Why not make the sheet cake a brown or tan, like a bowling alley, then you can do the letters in either dark green or brown?

I thought about that but I don't have brown coloring. what colors can I combine to get tan? I do have most other colors.

Why don't you make a chocolate frosting - that would make a nice tan (light chocolate) or all the way to a dark brown (deep chocolatae)

I think I will do that. Make chocolate frosting. Now, I need to do some kind of border (to hide imperfections) any suggestions? Sorry I am asking so many questions. This is the first time I've made a cake like this.
I appreciate your help!

Thanks Doug. I actually just iced it in chocolate buttercream and I've made some fondant pins (small) to put on. I think I'll do the round tip for the border, though. Thanks a bunch!!
