I need ideas for this cake. I've looked through many in the galleries here but there are SO many to choose from I can't decide. The customer wants 1/2 sheet cake for twin girls (she gave me their names) and that's about all I have to go on right now. Should I do two 9x13 cakes (1 for each baby) or put the together to make one cake? She basically left it up to me to decide what to do but I don't know where to start! HELP!

I googled Twin Birthday Cakes...

I saw the following plus a few others. Personally, I think two cakes are nice, if it isn't their first birthday.

By now they are forming their own opinions, but mirror images (if identical twins). Anyhoooo,

I think "seeing double" is cute. Two cakes identical, but their name changes.

Two little knives would be cute too from the dollar store. That way they match, etc...

I love the idea of 2 different cakes and just changing the names. Plus I don't know the age but I am sure they would love the fact they recieved "thier own" cake. I bet they share everything else.

If it is a baby shower and they are not born yet, I would do one cake for the mum to cut.

I thought of a pink cake with two white onesies on top each with the babys name on it and maybe some small pink flowers under their names. or even two sets of booties with pink laces and Welcome _____ and _____ written across the cake.

Baby shower as wonderful thing. If you want make two butties and the crawling baby cake pan. That is what i did one year that I had twins and the grandmother just left it up to me. Good luck.

I absolutely love your ladybug cakes, socake!
I'm actually waiting to hear what the theme is and hoping that will help me. It is a baby shower, not a birthday, so one cake would be just fine. The people attending are all potential clients and I want to do something really impressive.

This is something generic, yet simple.

Btw, the cake needs to feed about 30 people so it will be a 1/2 sheet cake. Should I do 2 layers or maybe just torte it instead? They don't want to spend more than $40.

Oh, and I just found out that the napkins each have a tan teddy bear on them with a pink bow. Maybe I could "draw" a bear on each side of the cake and write a name in each. Whaddayathink?

this is my friends cake but I absolutely LOVE it!.. She is not on CC but her name is Dawn and she helps me so much!

The booties are twinkies with the end cut off and the top is a nut cup. the ruffle on the nut cup is with and 88 tip. I have to look up what the piping on the bootie is..

edited to add, you could say welcome so and so.. and make the booties the same color.. I just love this cake LOL

I LOVE the ladybug cakes and the baby bootie cakes above! Even though you said the booties are from twinkies, I still can't figure out how those booties were made. They look hollow in the middle.

solobaker... the twinkies are the bottom of the bootie. the end is cut off and sat on the cake. frosting is piped all around. then a nut cup is set on top and piped all over (so its not edible) then the riffle is piped along the edge of the cup. the ribbon is real.

I think you should definitely do one cake, not two. That being said, since there are going to be teddy bears on the napkins, I would put two little bears on the cake with pink or purple bows on their heads and have them either covered by or laying on a purple or pink blanket. Purple is my favorite color, so I would do purple, but pink and tan (for the bears) go together just as well as purple and tan. I'd put something like "Welcome, so and so" on the cake. I'd either pipe the bears or make them out of fondant, but definitely use a little piece of fondant for the blanket. If you put them on top of the blanket, don't forget to put little diapers on them.

I have 1 year old twins and when they were eight days old we caught them on camera holding hands. I think that's one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. So, that being said, I'd have them laying down holding hands. Most infant twins like to sleep right by each other, so I'd put them close together, too; not on opposite sides of the cake.

Since they are little girls, you could put some cute little ladybugs or butterflies on the cake as accents--maybe do a simple shell border and have a little lady bug every so often on top of one of the shells? ...not sure...sometimes simpler is better, but I'd definitely continue the bear theme onto the cake so the whole shower looks pulled together.
