What Are Your Mother's Day Baking Plans?
Decorating By sweeteecakes Updated 14 May 2007 , 2:48pm by mbelgard
I plan to make a few cupcake bouquets for my moms and best friend and cookies for co-workers. For my mom I plan on doing a strawberries and cream swirl ccb; for my step- mother I was thinking peaches and cream; and for my best friend I will probably do both. Oh yeah, then I have my daughters god-mother and I have been wanting to bake a Red Velvet cake and was thinking about doing cupcakes instead. It will be a busy weekend!
What about you?
Well, I volunteered to do something for the mother's day brunch at church, but i've yet to decide what to make because everyone seems to think it's too early for cake. I planned to make three cupcake bouquests and two present cakes, but then i found out that one person i was making the present cake for doesnt like sweets, so who knows beyond that. plus i just started the wilton course 1 so i need to bake a cake for class too.
I'm going to make two little 6 inch cakes for my mother and my mother-in-law. Both with a small bouquet of RI and fondant flowers. I hope both will be fairly straight foreward, because I'm going to be making them in my MIL's kitchen 1000's of miles from my house in CA! LOL, she sort-of hinted that she wanted me to make her one after seeing my cakes from class. so I'm packing my tools ![]()
I'm also going to make my sister a Tinkerbell cake for her daughter's birthday (also in my MIL's kitchen)
this will be a fun adventure in baking!
good luck to everyone! and have a wonderful mother's day!
Me and my boyfriend are making the 2 hours journey Sunday to visit my mother! She lives on a farm that my oldest brother runs. We are going out for dinner and back to the house for some cake...
I plan on making her a hat cake- red hat society cake, complete with feathers, ribbon and fresh flowers. I am thinking of trying hummingbird cake with cream cheese icing...
Can't wait to get the heck outta the city for a nice mother's day!
Was hoping I would have learned roses in cake decorating class by then ,but oh well next time!
such wonderful ideas! i hope that you all have fun this weekend, i know that i will.
indydebi - your granddaughter will appreciate your sacrifice. Have a wonderful mother's day!

I just made a banana cheesecake to which I added Malibu Coconut Rum. Going to top w/whipped cream w a few drops of Lorann banana cream and toasted coconut. Made it for DH but he said we should have it Sunday. LOL! He's cooking for me so I guess that is one less thing for him to worry about.
Well, lets see. I just got back from delivering two 10'sqares with graduation hats atop them. In the morning I have to deliver 100 triple chocolate brownies. Saturday, I have a 10' rd, white and cream cheese, and a 8' rd, yellow and chocolate, for a Mother's Day cookout. Sunday I have a 50th Birthday tombstone and a Ford tractor due! I think that's it..I sure hope it is!

Re: KylesMom
I never heard of hummingbird cake till a few months ago either...I found it on Martha Stewart's website....There is a video to go with it there. She's making it with Paula Deen,as it's her recipe...
I just love Paula Deen, she's a too funny.
I made it last night, very easy.....It has pecans, bananas, crushed pinapple and cinnamon.....The scrapes were good like a banana cake but a light version....was tasty!!!!!!!

I don't like cake, but that sounds pretty good.
