I just need to commiserate with someone who might understand.......

I just found out today that the week after my daughter's wedding I "get" to have a hysterectomy..I've been trying to avoid that kind of surgery but it looks like I've run out of luck.

So I get to be mother of the bride and then have surgery......and I'll be all okay just in time for school to start and go back to work....yippee.......

I suddenly feel very old.............

That stinks! I'm assuming if you have to have a hysterectomy it's because you're having problems, hopefully this will put an end to any "female" issues you've been having. My SIL tried everything the doctors told her to do, but nothing helped her. Finally the doctor gave her a hysterectomy, she says it's the best thing she ever did for herself. She suffered with horrible, never ending bleeding and pain until then and she swears the operation saved her sanity.

I hope everything goes well for you and congratulations on your daughters wedding. Have tons of fun, dance, drink and be merry!! icon_lol.gif

I had one 3 years ago & agree it's the BEST thing I ever did for myself! I wish I would have done it years ago when the doctor first suggested it!

Hello,
I can understand your dilema. You will be in for 3-4 days. Enjoy the vacation. (everyone waiting on you while in the hospital) I have 2 wonderful adopted girls and just before the youngest turned 1, "I said enough was enough, get this out of me before the cancer has yet another chance to get me!" It took about 2-3 months to feel great.

The hardest part was the hormone therapy--pills made me violent. icon_mad.gif I stopped taking them and the only really awful problem is the icon_evil.gif HOT icon_evil.gif flashes. My DH says we are renting out the living room for a meat locker to pay the cooling bill this summer. icon_cool.gif

Start watching where you can make little changes in your diet now. I can not get my weight back to where it should be. (big O'le belly now) Begin a light weight exercise program, if possible.

Talk to your Dr. about how you should act/feel/temperment while taking the hormones. Talk with your family as well so they can offer input and be forwarned, while your are on them.

Have a Great time at the wedding and I hope this helps.
Charli
