FAMILY CAKES ARE ALWAYS THE SAME

GERMAN CHOC
RED VELVET
BUTTERNUT
CARROT

ALL OF THESE HAVE PECANS IN THE ICING ( family wouldn't have in any other way) HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT DECORATING THESE KINDS OF CAKES?? (german choc coconut/pecan icing)

I WOULD LIKE SOME ELSES OPINION!

what about using the icing w/pecans as the filling (maybe split it into 3 or 4 layers for more pecans) then use the icing w/o pecans as the outside icing. Then decorate with buttercream if you want things that will stand up a little more (like for roses)

The last German Chocolate cake I did, I added a dark chocolate shell border and some bright chocolate clay roses (buttercream would work, too). In this case, I also wrote happy birthday in the same dark chocolate. Very simple, but just a bit more "decorated"
