I have two KA artisans, a red one and a blue one. I also have extra bowls for both of them. I tend to use them both when I have a lot of icing to make, but other than that, the blue one is only a backup mixer. I also have a handheld Sunbeam that I use when I need to mix color into multiple batches of icing.

I've got a 6qt that I've had for about 6 years and I use it all the time. I purchased a 4.5qt a couple years ago and hardly ever use it. I do have an extra bowl and flat beater for each of them, that helps a bunch.

I have the Artisian 4.5 qt and just bought the Pro 600 on Ebay (got it for a steal $280 brand new!). I make 12 cups of IMBC at a time and it was overlowing my 4.5 qt so I wanted a bigger one and I just love having both!

Hey Flava! I only have one KA but I have 3 bowls. I bought referbished bowls from my cake friends shop. They were only $12 each! I would recommend getting some extra bowls if you don't want to spend the money. I only do cakes for family & friends but I do a lot of baking too so the extra bowls sure come in handy! I have to go back & read what everyone else wrote now icon_smile.gif

Hey TC! Someday I'll for sure get the Pro 600 but for now I'll just get the extra bowls and beaters. Maybe I can talk him into a couple more little things... icon_twisted.gificon_lol.gif

get extra bowls and and agbay leveler! I have 2 but use the Pro all the time. Got one for my birthday from sister about 3 years ago, the 5qt artisan. Got a little windfall this year and bought the Pro. LOVE it. Don't make enough cakes yet so never use the smaller one. Saving it for my son. I do cakes and icing on diffrent days so don't really need 2.

I have 2 kitchenaids with extra bowls and paddles for both and I'm needing a third badly. I use the 6 quart lift one all the time because the 4 quart one doesn't hold enough for me. icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif

I personally have 2, however, i kept the one that "survived" our house fire 3 4 years ago but i do not use it for mixing, i use the parts inside if anything goes wrong with the one i got to replace it. my mom also has 2, 1 she uses and 1 for parts lol AND together we have a total of 8 bowl, not sure how many beaters we have lol
i would suggest a bowl and beaters and some other "stuff" you can use.
my grandma got my mom and pasta maker that fits on our KA, she never makes noodles but i use it a lot for fontant. it's perfect for details and such that i do with fondant, ribbons etc.
you hubby sounds like a great guy.
Amy
