Ok, now the cake is baked!! She made the cake batter herself, I needed to do a cake for our family also, so she followed my steps and did it!! She baked in my Betty Crocke dome set, just the dome and center. She made the chocolate/pistachio batter and I did the vanilla. She poured the batter in the pan, she had presetted the oven, For a 10 y-o she's good. She decided to sell her easy-bake oven now that she knows how to run the big one
I think she's got the cake gene, like me. Her teacher will tell her one day in advance when she needs to present her project so we'll decorate it the night before. I have the fondant already, she'll need to roll it and cut it. I'll decorate our family cake at the same time so she can follow the steps. She just can't wait!!! she's working on her ad so she can present it and she's good. She's coming up with some ideas that I wouldn't have even dreamed of thinking!!! I'll post her cake (like she told me to do) as soon as she's finished. She really appreciated the help that she got from here. In a few years (when she learns enough English) she'll probably get addicted to this site also!! ![]()

Here's the final cake!!! She did it by herself, with just a tiny little help from me. I'm posting a picture of the 'under' cake and the whole cake. She loved working with fondant. She chose her colors, rolled the fondant herself, I only helped to glue the cut outs with vanilla. I think she's got the talent, now I will never be able to do a cake alone without her around ![]()
She wants to be my first employee when my business grows a little ![]()
What do you all think? she's good!!!! BTW she's only 10½ y-o!!

)
Wow, I bet you are one proud mom. She did a wonderful job, bless her heart. Please tell her that I am looking forward to seeing more of her cakes. With the fantastic teacher that she has and her natural talent, she can't lose. I'm still too intimidated by fondant to try it and here she is working with it on her first cake and doing a fantastic job. Please tell her that she has inspired me. I will have to try working with fondant now ![]()

Thanks for the great comments. My daugther was able to learn about those comments before she went to bed, and she's happy!!! She's so proud of her cake. So tomorrow morning she'll be showing this in class, with her slogan. She did it a few times in front of me and I think she'll do great. Being a dyslexic she's better in orals than in writings, so usually she gets good grades in orals. Crossing fingers!!!!

J'aime beaucoup votre gateau!
Il est difficile de couvrir un gateau avec le fondant! Votre image est aussi tres jolie! Bonne chance avec votre presentation demain! ![]()

She's back!!!!! Everything went great. She thinks she got a B+, but she'll know for sure later next week. They loved it. She said she had a little trouble separating the 2 parts, but it's very hot and humid around here today, so it got glued together...
But sshe's proud of her that's what's important!!!
Have a nice day

Can't wait to see more of her cakes.... She has as well inspired me to venture the fondant trail... maybe
...lol
GREAT JOB KIDDO!!! Psst Don't tell mom but you may just be a natural at this... Practice Practice and you could be the youngest cake decorator and enter contests and wow..... On and on... I think cake central ought to do a kids contest... Id love to see what all they can come up with...
I have not checked this site for a few days (withdrawal pains were occurring) - Tell you daughter her cake is wonderful - I love her letters and choice in colors. Pootchi - with your daughters interest and pride in her work she will make a great first employee!
I would get her on the payroll now, before she is scouted by other bakeries! That is a great cake! My daughter is 10 and loves to do cakes, too. It is a HUGE confidence booster for her when people rave about her cakes! (Actually, isn't this why we ALL do it? There's great validation from people when you make something beautiful out of cake and frosting!)
Helendelk, your suggestion for a kid's contest is a good one. I think there's a topic on this forum for suggestions. You should submit it!
I dont have any kids but I know they love to bake and its cute way to get them to help in the kitchen.... My god-daughter is always trying to get me to let her help decorate... HMMMM Ok Ill suggest it!... You twisted my arm.... but you guys gotta so back me up on it ok!
Wow, there has been a great response to your suggestion already, Helendelk! WoooHooo! ![]()
Pootchi, you can let your daughter know that her cake has inspired the contest! I hope she's beaming with pride!
I wanted to mention that if anyone else wants to weigh in on the idea for a kids contest, the poll is set up under the "Information forum" under the heading "Cake decorating contests".
