Hello all,
I just found this board and decided to sign right up =) I have been doing cakes as an amateur for 12 years. I got started by making Wilton's shaped character cakes for my kids and then a couple years ago my son wanted a pirate ship. So I did a search online and made him a pirate ship.
This Mother's day I bought myself a huge lot of cake decorating supplies and this fall when my youngest enters school i pln to take the Wilton Cake Decorating classes. Everything I have done so far is self taught. I enjoy the creative expressionism that cake decorating gives.
Anyway I am glad to have found this site and i look forward to being inspired by you all and learning new things.

Just wanted to say welcome to cc. I just started decorating the past few years. The warning about this site being addictive is so true. I am on here every chance I get. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I have learned so much from the people on cc.

Welcome, I'm rather new to the board too. It's like you told my story. For me, it all started about 12 years ago with the Wilton lamb pan. I made some really homely looking lamb cakes for a long time.
I finally took Wilton classes last summer in order to make my brother's wedding cake. Bless him and my sister-in-law for trusting enough in my capabillities. Since then I have pretty much emmersed myself in decorating.
I am in the same place you are with my youngest starting school in the fall. I hope to get some real world bakery experience at that time.
I also started about 12 years ago -- my first cake was my son's 2nd birthday -- the red Power Ranger! Haha, I still have that pan!

Oh my you guys are so wonderfully friendly! I came home from a mother daughter dinner and decided to just drop in and see if anyone had said hello and 18 of you have poured out the warmest welcomes! I already feel so loved .
I am doing a graduation cake for my church the end of this month and i have some ideas. I am thinking i want to make a sheet cake with a 6inch round cake on top and a square piece of fondant on the round to make a Grad cap.

Welcome! If cake decorating is your passion you will definitely form an addiction here lol. The creativity of the ladies here is spell-binding. You are sure to be over-inspired and by the time it comes to make that cake you'll have your mind changed more often than your clothes for all the ideas lol.... A day will not go by without learning something new, and the big thing about the wonderful community here is that they hold nothing back...it's given freely and that's beautiful!
