I have set up a new account, in my name only, with my bank for the Becky's Kids Education Fund. Donation checks should be made out to Becky's Kids Education Fund and mailed to the bank. All donations will be deposited directly into the memorial account. The bank will send me a deposit slip for each and every donation received. When it seems that the donations have stopped or slowed considerably I will withdraw the donations in the form of a bank check and take it to Becky's family myself, with a note saying it is from CC. I will repeat this process if/when more donations accumulate in the account. I will also keep this account open for some time to allow members to give as they feel led. I plan to print out the entire thread titled "Farewell to a sweet lady and friend" and take it to Becky's husband to read when he feels ready.

mail donations to:

Becky's Kids Education Fund
c/o Solutions Bank
PO Box 57
Ottawa, KS 66067

Anyone who does not feel led to or able to make a momotary donation but who would like to send a card to the family can e mail me and I will send you my home address. I do not want my home addres posted to the internet, please. Also no pm's for this please, as it will be easier for me to do this thru my e mail.

[email protected]

Thank you all for all of your prayers, caring and condolences. But please continue the prayers. Now when the family and friends begin to go home will come the hard part of being alone with their grief. For those of you who have suffered the loss of someone very close you know how hard this can be.

God Bless,
Carol

I forgot to mention that cards sent to my home address need to be addressed to Becky's Family in care of me. That way there will be no question about their being for them.
Thanks,
Carol

Not Paypal?

Jopalis,
No, no paypal. I opened this special memorial account at my home bank because the only thing the funeral home could do for us was mark each donation to the fund already set up for the children as coming from a cc member (provided it came in tagged that way). Using this special account CC members can send their donation directly into the memorial account and know that every single penny will go to Becky's Kids. Then instead of each check, regardless of how small or large, trickling to the family as they come in, we can give our donations/love gifts collectively, in the form of a bank check. My understanding from reading the hundreds of posts here was that CC members were in favor of collecting donations somehow and giving them as a lump sum gift coming from the members of Cake Central. This was my solution to this dilema. I am prepared to keep this account active indefinitely for the cc members. When donations cease to come in I will close it. But every cent would have gone to Becky's Kids Education Fund.

The only problem I can see with this would be if members did not want to trust me to handle this honestly and deliver the donations as I have promised to do. I understand that most of us are only acqauinted online and in this day and age it is hard to know whether to trust a stranger. To that I would have to say that if any of you have doubts or a bad feeling then the answer would seem clear to me. Don't do it. Continue to pray for Becky's family and know that that is enough. I believe there is great power in prayer. Prayer changes things every moment of every day. I cannot convince you that I am trust worthy. I can only state to you that I most assuredly am. You have to decide.

Now, I know that this is a very long response to a two word question "No Paypal?" but I felt that it needed to be said. You don't know me from Adam and I wouldn't blame you if you decided not to donate, if you had decided to do so. In that case just say a heart felt prayer for Becky's family and feel good about it. God will bless you for it.

Thanks for the information CarolAnn! Count me in!

I don't think most of us have a problem with trust, as you have made the address to send donations to the bank available. I think we were interested in PayPal (at least I was) for the simple fact that it is an instant transfer, with little effort on out part to actually transfer the money!

I hope that this does not deter our CC members from making that move to donate to the family!

Just remember- Paypal may charge her a fee and we want the children to have ALL of the money.

God Bless them

Count me in Carol Ann! I think the simple fact that you're reaching out to a group that obviously meant as much to cakerunner as it does to all of us on a regular basis is good enough for me. Thank you for being sensitive and being led by the Spirit to do a good thing in the midst of all this sadness. God bless you and yours.

This family is so blessed to have a friend like you Carol! I have been so impressed with you and the way you have delt with this terrible situation. I have heard that when trouble comes, that is when your true colors show. Your true colors are beautiful indeed, and I have been taught great lessons by you. I will be sending my contribution today and there is no doubt in my mind the money will go where it is intended. Thank you for providing a way for the CC members to express their grief and give support to the family.

cakeatty and BeckySue - I couldn't have said it any better myself. I agree with both of you 100 percent. CarolAnn is truly a blessing. Though she doesn't know it, her personality and outlook on life has really inspired me and has helped me through an extremely difficult time in my life. I won't give details because this isn't about me but I am mourning the unexpected death of my mother who was also my very best friend. This thread has unexpectedly helped me and hopefully others as well. I will always be grateful to CarolAnn who allowed us to share in this.

Thank you all for your kind words and wishes. I just can't express what that means to me.

icingandsprinkles, This account is named the Becky's Kids Education Fund because the fund set up by the family through the funeral home is called The Davidson Children's Education Fund. I followed that lead, but tried to make it a little more personal by having Becky's name in it.

Butternut, You are now in my prayers, every time I sit at my pc. I am so sorry.

Carol, I am sorry to hear about the loss of a good friend, mother to her children, wife to her husband and all who knew her and of her great accomplishment and talent in the cake decorating industry. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family, friends and all members of CC. I will do my part in helping out to support the needs of the family. May God grant you strength, health and peace. "Come ye disconsolate, where-ever languish, come to the mercy- seat, fervently kneel, here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish: Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal". I say to the family and friends to be encouraged and always look to God when everything seems to look cloudy and when you find no one else to turn to. Hugs!

Butternut, sorry to hear about the lost of your mother, I know the feeling, but it gets better in time, but you never forget, you just keep them in your heart and think about good times, wonderful & great memories and always their smile and how they would do good deeds for friends & family and even next door neighbors. My prayers and thoughts goes out to you and your family. Hugs!

CarolAnn,
I will be mailing a check Monday. Tomorrow will be a very sad day for Cakerunner's family. I pray they will find peace in their loving memories.

Will you be providing a running total of sorts for the donations so that everyone will know how we are doing with donations?

AlamoSweets, Yes, I guess I'll do that from time to time. I received the first deposit slips from the bank today, so the donations have started to come in. I almost cried when I saw what they were.

God Bless all you mothers and your mothers on Mother's Day!

Most Sincerely,
Carol

I was thinking about cakerunner's family today. I'm so sorry for their loss and yours. It's just all so terrible. The pastor at my church today said something about his mother who passed away a couple years ago..he said it's comforting to know she's now safe with Jesus. I just wanted to pass that along..just remember where they are now and how wonderful it must be to be with Him! God Bless.

To each of you who has made a donation I want to send my heartfelt thanks!

As of last week I have received 6 deposit slips from the bank totaling $110.
The ladies at the bank are putting your names on the slips so when I take a card from CC I will put each of those names on the card to make this as personal as possible. Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness and prayerful support. Most Sincerely.

God Bless You,
Carol

Just updating interested members on the status of the memorial for Cakerunner. As of June 11th there have been 11 donations totalling $207.

I hope that those who wanted to do this will see this thread.

I received a call from Becky's husband this evening. He called to tell me that he'd finally visited CC and had read about the memorial I had set up. It was very difficult because this was the first time we'd spoken since the visitation for Becky and Norah. He expressed to me how very touched he was by the many many compassionate people there are on this website and by the expressions of sympathy, faith and caring he read in the posts. David is having a very tough time as a young father suddenly alone raising three motherless children. Remember he also lost his youngest daughter.

I want to thank cc members who have been praying for the family. For those of you who have gone one step further and sent donations to the Memorial Fund you have my heartfelt thank you. I've said this before and I will say it again, Thank You Thank You Thank You. My heart cannot begin to imagine what this young family is going thru. But I heard in David's voice what all the prayers mean to him. Please keep them coming.

From My Heart,
Carol
