I am making this for my mom's bday this weekend, and I am going to put raspberry mousse for the filling. This will be my first time making it, so the combo sounded good, so we will see! I hope to see what others suggestions you get.

I think many fillings would compliment this cake, but my choice would be raspberry or strawberry.

i think wasc can handle almost anything! i've made before with raspberry and it was delish, but you could also do a nutella mousse, bavarian cream, cherry BC/mousse, almond flavored IMBC... the list goes on!

if you're not used to making your own fillings, i would start with just buttercream. add choc to some of it for the choc layers, and just use the plain vanilla bc for hte vanilla layers. i like bc dream recipe from this site, there's also a recipe for choc bc dream on this site.

What icing do you all think will go with WASC?

I would make a raspberry mouse, I have a really good recipe if you want it, then I would add a little rasberry flavor in the icing to match it up. Yum.

Good Luck.

I'm doing the WASC for a bridal shower (and probably the wedding cake, too) with a raspberry filling. It's such a yummy combo, but I also think a whipped chocolate something might go well too. I like the chocolate/almond combo.

I like the WASC cake all by itself too!

The bavarian cream sounds good...mmmmmm. I've made it with raspberry cream and strawberry cream. I prefer the raspberry, but everyone flipped over the strawberry. I used the whipped cream icing on this site with the cream cheese in it. It was really good. I've also used the BC Dream.

Thanks. I tried the WASC this weekend and got a bowl of cake soup. I think it was because I used the Jiffy brand of cake mix. Those two little boxes are NOT enough lol. But I then added another regular size box of mix. My cake tasted great, but was kind of (as my baby sister called it) gooey.

I was planning on making white chocolate buttercream for the icing. But I'm scared to try the cake again.

I just had another thought, whipped up ganache, I made a combo like that not too long ago, then you can either cover the whole thing with Marzipan if you really like almonds or with more ganache which would be more complementary.

But That was great.

Good Luck.

Did you all see the thread about the WASC but instead of the water you put in International Delight coffee creamer? They come in all sorts of flavors and people here on CC say that putting in the creamer instead of water makes one AMAZING cake. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds awesome. One of the flavors is White Chocolate Raspberry. It would go good with that Raspberry Mousse you guys are talking about.
