i haven't made anything other than Buttercream and the chocolate butter cream just isn't chocolaty enough for me.
I just made a batch of the Chocolate Syrup Frosting posted in the recipes section. It's VERY chocolatey & nice and brown (unlike the pale chocolate buttercreams I've used before). I haven't piped with it yet, so I can't speak to that, but it seems like a winner.
My all time favorite chocolate icing is the one on the back of the Hershey's Cocoa can. It is like chocolate fudge! YUM!!

My favorite is Bitter Sweet Chocolate Frosting. I use it all the time. Very Chocolatey with 6 ounces of Unsweetened Chocolate and 3 ounces of Semi-sweet chocolate... Soooo yummy. And it looks so dark and rich too. I'll post a pic of it If you want the recipe I have it posted here on CC.

Will frost a 3 layer 9 cake.
I love the Chocolate Syrup Frosting. It is awesome, very thick and fudgy. The Hersheys Perfectly Chocolate frosting is very good too. I remember that one being more creamy. Both very good. I haven't made the Hersheys one in years, but I do remember I really liked it. Now all I make is the Chocolate Syrup one.
