another thing is that instructors are not on commission, i think alot of students think we are since we push product. i also tell them what not to buy though.

I dont' mind paying good money for a cake class but it's got to be worth the money. The last Wilton gumpaste/fondant class I took was horrible. Although the instructor was a nice gal she was a terrible instructor and I ended up dropping out after the 2nd class. I wasn't learning anything I didn't already know plus it seemed I knew more than her. She had one of the students put the fondant on her dummy cake and didn't explain about how to measure out the fondant or how to get the wrinkles out...she just chatted while we watched the student.

I did have a GREAT instructor for my Wilton I, II, and III class but she's no longer there. icon_cry.gif

I also understand the instructors get some "freebies" from Wilton. That's what this instructor said anyway. I think that's one of the reasons she teaches b/c it's definatly not for the money.

Yes, I also agree that (please no one take offense if you are a WMI, I'm sure you guys are great) Wilton seems to higher anyone without really knowing if they're going to be able to teach the classes effectively (or even decorate at all).

I do have a great store manager.

And it probably is up to the store. I'd try it and see though, for those that don't know what their store will do. If they say no to the internet coupons then atleast you know.

I did read the coupon for tomorrow and it does have the Wilton Course Kit listed on there. I asked the manager about it and he said he wouldn't be surprised if Michaels phased out the coupon completely at some point.

That will be a shame Texas. icon_sad.gif But it wouldn't surprise me either; I don't think the coupons do them that well. They are slowly starting to phase them out- last year and the years before that they came every week, and now they come every other week.

I wouldn't even be in a Michael's if it weren't for the coupons. I always end up buying more things then I went for.

If I don't have a coupon I will just go to JoAnn's or the cake shop to get what I need.

I'm confused if a person has paid for their class why would they care if they show up or not?

I signed up for IV and the day of the class my daughter had her baby. I personally went to Michael's and told them what happened they asked if I wanted a refund or to take the class the next time around. I chose to take the class. When the time came they said I couldn't do that. Of corse by then I lost my recipt I was out the money for the class and the kit.

So, I'm not a fan of Michael's anyway.

Wilton instructors should get all the profit from teaching the class. What difference would it make to Wilton. Since my classes I have spent $1,000s in supplies.

I also had a very nice instructor but didn't think she was qualified. She said Wilton just asked her if she took the three courses and that was it. She showed us some of the cakes she did, I wasn't impressed at all. And she had never done anything but BD cakes.
