Cut out some fondant circles in various colours for that retro look. Quick, easy and very effective.

If she likes chocolate, you could do an all-chocolate cake. No mixing of colours, and chocolate on chocolate looks great! You could do some simple designs, like scrolls, or a chocolate flower spray, with nice borders. Only one bowl to clean up!

Maybe pick just 2 colors - like purple/moss green or pink/moss green - LOVE those together, so girly. And then you could do some quick designs like frost in one color then borders and maybe some swiss dots or swirls on the sides in the other color.

Is she also in school also?
You could make it really simple like everyone said and then if you have some time and the materials do a little book in fondant or chocolate clay that said on the bind of the book! Finals are finished Houray! - just for fun.

I love the all chocolate idea and the 2 color tone. If you cover it in Fondant or marzipan, just plain you can add little dots everywhere and a simple border. It's classic and once your fondant is on, it takes only a few minutes to finish.

Good Luck

How about Dark Chocolate frosting with Some Fondant/gumpaste circles and dots maybe one or two colors. The number 23 cut out of fondant and all fondant pieces dusted with super pearl or edible glitter? Kind of retro/girly/delicious!

I love the chocolate on chocolate idea, but I love strawberries and they are definitely in season right now. I do a cake where you cut the tops of the strawberries off and put the on the top of the cake and then drizzle some melted chocolate icing over that. Yummy!!!!

chocolate frosting with pink zebra stripes, very easy to cut out of fondant because you don't have to be exact on the cutting.
