Hi, I'm trying to make grass using tip 233, I squeeze 2 times, then the third time, the tip is clogged and I have to open it and clean it to use it again. I tried this 10 times and it was the same. Did it happen to anybody?
Please help.
Thanks.

are you using royal icing?? If you letting it sit even for for second or two the holes will clog because royal dries so quickly.

I have not had that problem with my tip but once I start doing grass I just keep going because I know a clogged can be a pain.

Look at the end of the tip and make sue all of your holes are acutally opened up. Maybe you sould take a piece of small gauges wire and poke them a little large. Be careful not to make them too large.

HTH,

Chrissy

This only happens to me when the powdered sugar is not mixed in my frosting well. Can you add a touch of liquid to your frosting and mix it some more??

try thinning your icing just a bit - then it might work better - goodluck

Could it be that the frosting is thick? Maybe you have to open the tips a bit with a toothpick. I bought mine last week but haven't tried it.

I use this tip all the time and love it. I do have clogging problems from time to time but not that often. How thick/thin is your icing? Mine is usually around a medium consistency when I use it. Try is using different consistencies and you might get a better result. Also, make sure you pull away as you are squeezing, this may help too.

The only time I used it, I didn't sift my powdered sugar, so it kept clogging it. That would help IMMENSLY (SP?) if you did that first!

My icing has to be pretty soft to make that tip work but I am a novice. I just iced a 16: tall dog cake with that tip and boy what a PIA. I have tip 234 on my shopping list - it is supposed to be a bigger version of 233.

I thin my icing with either piping gel or corn syrup before using this tip.

Thanks a lot for all your answers.
I'm using Buttercream Icing, the crusting recipe, with 3/4 shortening and 1/4 butter, maybe that's the reason.
No, I didn't sift my sugar before using. The consistency is between stiff and medium.
I'll try to thin my icing and see what happens. I'm affraid that if the icing is too soft, the grass will not look right, maybe it will be mixed together.

Hi again, I tried thinning my buttercream to the extent that it didn't give the grass shape anymore, but it's still clogging!! It's not that only 1 or 2 openings are clogging, they're ALL clogging at the same time! Weird huh?
