I am doing a wedding cake at the outer banks for june 10- the bride is wanting seashells( which isn't a problem) however, she wants me to make ocean coral for the topper. I used royal icing and piped some coral with a number 6 tip. It kind of looks like a cactus. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. icon_confused.gif

I think I saw some in the photo gallery made with chocolate. There are a few examples of coral if you look under seashells in the photo gallery. Some used a wider tip and it's one sided and there is also one that was made of royal and is 3 demensional, really nice.

Good idea - look in the gallery. There are some nice coral there. I did a topper for a "shell" cake with royal icing for coral (dusted with copper luster dust) and chocolate shells. I think it came out okay. Maybe looking at other coral will inspire you!

Collette's Wedding Cakes book has a beach cake in it with coral on it that looks amazing, and it has the template right in the book that you could copy--I found the book at my local library...it's here now...

If you can't find it or want me to, I can send you a copy of it as an attachment by pm or something...
