I saw on the Food Network that they were adding different cake flavors in one tier. For instance, one cake tier had 3 differet flavors... I was just use to different cakes having one flavor... ie, 3 tier cake, each cake had one flavor. Anyone doing something like this? Just thought it was intersting.

I've done wedding cakes with both a white and chocolate layer for each cake. They loved it!

Yep, I do this. It's fun to do. Sometimes you have to think outside of the box. icon_lol.gif

I have done the white and chocolate layers in one cake instead of half and half. I get lots of compliments on this one. I have wanted to try other variations but I can't find anyone to try them out on =(

When my twins made Eagle, I made three cakes. One white, one chocolate, one banana. I sliced each in half, so now I had six layers. I set the two white layers side-by-side, added the chocolate, then the banana. A three layer cake that gaveme some extra height for the side borders, and that looked really nice when cut.

Different cake flavors along with different fillings are delicious and also pretty once the cake is cut.

I did one with red velvet and cheesecake flavor alternating layers. Another one I did that everyone seems to really enjoy is strawberry and french vanilla.

They are fun to do and look terrific when sliced. You just have to have flavors that complement each other.

I did my last cake with chocolate and vanilla in each tier with chocolate ganache between each. I torted the layers and did choc-van-choc-van in each tier. It was very yummy.

My baby nephew is 1/2 black, 1/4 mexican and 1/4 "white." For my sister's baby shower cake, my mom thought it would be funny (funny haha, not funny evil) to have 1 layer chocolate cake, and 1 layer white cake with a mocha filling. I must say, it was a very tasty idea.

smcintosh2801,
Welcome to CakeCentral (CC)! I saw this about five years ago..... it was very interesting. The cake was the bride's cake and each tier was a different flavor (as you said). I guess that is one way to please the crowd. However, it would only make it difficult on the baker icon_sad.gif
