im having trouble getting the correct shade of red for lightning mcqueen but it just wont happen. i tinted my icing pink the day before to make it easier but it not working im going on 3/4 of jar now with wilton gel colours (no americolor avail believe me id use it if i could)and all i have is a pale red. i also tried adding a speck of black to help it deepen but that didnt do much. gonna let it sit over night again maybe it will magically change colour for me, any suggestions.

If you have used that much, let it sit overnight and try again tomorrow if it isn't the right color. Red and black are horrible to get from Wilton, I finally found the Americolor in a store near me, but I still use alot of Super Black too.

I had the same problem and was using the wrong color red to boot! I had a whole batch of BC ready to go for McQueen that was the color of ...... RASPBERRY SHERBERT!! Can you imagine the look on my son's face if I had iced the cake in that ! icon_lol.gif I ended up just buying the stupid red decorator tube at Joannes so I could use my coupler and star tip! I think I heard somewhere that if you add a little green(?) it will help it red up? but I was afraid to try this... so I went to the store! icon_lol.gif

I used Wilton on my mcqueen cake. it took the whole container. I also put a touch of black. I was having a hard time getting it red. I let it sit in the fridge over night and that did the trick. Good luck with it!
