I add a little bit more salt than it asks for, not much and it's perfect.
Good Luck!
will adding more meringue powder make it crust more or less
Adding more meringue powder won't make much of a difference in the crusting. You have to be careful, though, as too meringue powder can sometimes result in more air bubbles or a "frothy" consistency in your icing.
I agree - half butter/half crisco is much tastier than the Wilton all shortening class buttercream. Yecch! I use salted butter when I make it, btw. It is a bit softer than all shortening buttercream.
My favourite icing is to mix equal parts butter/crisco buttercream with IMBC. Beautiful consistency, light, not as sweet taste, not as "greasy" as IMBC can be on its own.
(Edited for clarity)
Do you think this recipe will work with part butter and part crisco? I hate the taste of the wilton buttercream, so I think this might taste similar.
This recipe is the best I have ever had. I also add a bit more salt to it. I use 1/2 butter and 1/2 crisco and I can't stop eating it when I am decorating... ![]()
