There was a thread on here yesterday about "Anyone ever get busted" and it's got me worried. I live in Massachusetts and I started taking Wilton classes last year so I could learn how to make my daughter's wedding cake. Well to make a long story short, I just LOVE cake decorating. I would love to get into wedding cakes. I just recently purchase cake dummies and was planning on making several wedding cakes up with my dummies and photograph them to put on a web site. Well now I don't know if I should. I make these cakes out of my home. I have a full time job but I just want to feed my addiction maybe a couple cakes a month. Is anyone else in this same situation? Anyone have any advice? I just don't know what to do. My husband says I shouldn't make cakes but then he says he realizes that I am addicted and says yeah go ahead. I don't want to rent a kitchen or anything like that. I don't think that would be profitable. HELP!
well i think that as long as you don't advertise to the public you should be fine...if you do it for friends and family who know you are not licensed...you should be ok......at least that is what i do.....its not a crime to make cakes for family and friends.......
I would like to do 'word of mouth' wedding cakes. I'm just not sure what I should do.
You are very lucky -- Massachussetts is a state which permits sale of home baked goods. ![]()

Wow that is totally awesome. Thanks so much. I have been so depressed over this today thinking I was going to have to give up my cake decorating. Thanks so much Kelly. For once I am glad that I live in Massachusetts!!!
