I tried doing several searches for it, and everything I have tried nothing comes up. I have spent time going through several galleries, still got nothing to go with.
It is a 30th birthday party, and doesn't have to be a 70's cake, but I was hoping to find one. I also don't know what to do for a 30th.
Any help and suggestions would be great!
Bell bottoms and platforms come to mind, as does disco! ![]()
What about a tie dye cake with flowers. Or a pair of bellbottom pants with flowers and patches. Good luck! I love the 70's even though I was born at the end of them in '78!
oh you guys make me feel like such a MOM to ya all! My DAUGHTER was born in '77! ![]()

Big floppy hats (I had a blue jean denim floppy hat with a big 'ole MIckey Mouse CLub pin on the front!); bell bottoms were still in style in the '70's but who else remembers the Elephant Leg pants! How cool were those! My mom was appalled when I came downstairs dressed for a date wearing jeans, a shirt, and an army jacket! casual! very casual!
You had to have a big set of headphones (better to listen to Pink Floyd in!). Black lights and black light posters.....omg you were a geek deluxe if you didn't have any black light posters in your room!
Our parents were having heart attacks over the new halter tops that kept getting skimpier and skimpier .... and the hip hugger jeans! You had to wear a big belt with them so make your waist look even smaller.
Oh my favorite! patches on your jeans! Just cut out pieces of material and sew them on your jeans whether it covered a hole or not! and the longer the jean the better. We'd actually cut the pants leg off of old jeans and sew them onto the bottom of our current jeans' pants leg to make them longer. Yes you could tell it was two different pieces of material but that's what made it cool! I found some material that was patterned with old cars .... 1920's! I cut out a Stutz Bearcat car and sewed it right on the a$$ of my jeans! When someone would slap it and say "what's that?" I'd warn them "Hey! Dont' kick my Stutz!"
Fringed jeans. We'd sit in class and pull the threads out of the bottom of our jean legs. Prop one foot on the other and pull threads. Man, you weren't cool if the bottom of your jeans weren't all raggity!
Oh man this was MY era so I could go on forever! And I haven't even touched the disco era, when I was a cute sexy 118 lbs and married to a weight lifter and we owned the dance floor because we could make John Travolta look like a square dancer! (Seriously, when we took the floor, the crowd cleared it to watch us. The club manager said her business was off on the nights we weren't there because everyone came to see "her dancers".)
My DD was born 1976 so half the decade I spent playing Mom
I loved my Elephant pants, they were bright swirly colors that rode on my hip with a big white belt.
I wore the Huggers but not the halters, I was well endowed. I did wear the tops that snapped in the croutch, how uncomfortable were they.
Patches on my jeans, my favorite I had one that looked like a bandaid
We also sat in class bored at the teacher and fringed our jeans. Our jean shorts we would roll up and write our boyfriends name with a pen across the rolled up part.
I didn't do the black light thing. I was madly, madly in love with Elvis. And coming from Motown, I listen to that.

72 I had the Granny skirt with the puffy sleeve blouse and the Granny shoes with high square hells. I thought I was so cool.

Men wore those awful silk shirts with the V front and long sideburns.
At the time we thought they were so sexy. And let's not forget the men in their long or permed hair.
Leaisure suits - ewww
Old men dressing with the new styles trying to get their youth back and they just looked stupid. My FIL.
Races had mellowed from all the termoil from the 60's. There were no color on the Dance floor.
I liked the 60's but the 70's was a lot calmer decade.
I just remember how beautiful my mom looked with her long hair parted down the middle (of course) in a pair of cut off shorts and a tube top washing her old boat of a car, a dodge or a plymouth I think. This is one of my earliest memories of her. My parents were so cool and hip back then, I wish I had a scanner on my computer so I could show you all their wedding photo, It is soooo 70's! My mom's got this light blue disco dress on and my dads all decked out in Polyester! I love the 70's!! ![]()
