I am making a cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday this weekend. I have seen pictures on this site with rainbows made out of chocolate. I am new to decorating and have no idea how to do this. Could somebody help me?

Hi,
I have never tried this but search on this site for frozen buttercream transfers. Also, can do it with colored candy wafers, melted and poured onto waxed paper over a rainbow stencil. Good Luck.

I must admit I'm not entirely sure, but I would guess they do it with a number of different colors of white chocolate with food coloring in them to achieve the colors you'd like.

You could do chocolate piping on wax paper and make a rainbow, refrigerate it, them peel it off. A chocolate transfer!

Thank you MikkelPaige for explaining much more eloquently what I meant by using the melted chocolate. Yes, a chocolate transfer.

When working with chocolate remember not to use regular icing colors. Chocolate needs candy colors. They are made with oil based where icing colors are a water base and will seize the chocolate. You can do a rainbow free still on wax paper or use a child's color book with a rainbow in it. Have fun.

It sounds like you're talking about modeling chocolate, it's kind of like chocolate play dough and you can dye it. Here's the link to the recipe. HTH. icon_smile.gif
