Hi everyone! Well I'm writing this with my beautiful 4 week old little boy on my lap. I'm back to cakes now and need some help. I have a bride who wants gerbera daisies on her cake, but wants it to look elegant, not childish. I can't find any pics. If you have or find any please post! Also the groom wants a cake shaped like a candy bar if you know where I can find some pics of that it would help a lot!

Okay, not sure if I got this attachment right, but I typed in daisy in search and found some daisys by themselves. No idea how she made them, but they are awesome!! Congrats on the new baby!!

Congratulations, and welcome back!

For the candy bar I would suggest just taking a sheet cake or loaf pan depending on the candy type and decorate as needed. Maybe some fondant for the wrapper to give it the smooth look? then you could use some sort of dust to get the shinyness of the wrapper? Just throwing out some ideas here.

As for the gerbera daisy cake, my favorite ones are the square or hexagon cakes. Iced smooth... maybe a simple dot pattern or scroll work. A small boquet of daisies on the top (maybe 5 or 7 depending on size of top tier) then one or two daisies on the other tiers. Depending on how many tiers you have. I would suggest looking at some rose cakes also.

Although the one below I really like too. Quite a few daisies, but i really like it. I dont' know where it came from as it is one that is saved on my computer. Oh i found it, Marilyn on CC did it.

Here is anotherone that kinda explains what i was talkinga bout above, but i was thinking a larger cake... then more flowers icon_smile.gif Nati made this one.

There's a cake in the ''Mother's Day" contest that has beautifully colored daisys. I'm not sure, but I think this link will work:

Do you have any idea what type of candy bar they are wanting? If we know what kind then maybe we can give you some more specific details?

I was thinking about your Hershey bar cake and thought that maybe you could do it with an open wrapper. That way you could simply use regular foil under the "candy bar" and arrange it so it looks like a wrapper that has been opened. Your cake could look like the actual candy bar with little fondant rectangles across it (maybe even put the groom's initials on each piece instead of "Hershey's"). Just a thought...oh, and you could slice a portion of it off and cover it separately on the board so it looks like someone has started to eat the candy bar----well, that last part may be a bit much for a groom's cake, but it'd look cute for a candy bar cake in general. Hope these ideas help some.

OK....just had another thought---how about putting a "golden ticket" next to the open candy bar and write the Bride and Groom's names, day and time of wedding, etc... on it --or something clever about winning in the game of love...

I knew I could count on you guys! Thanks for the help. Keep posting the pics if you find any more. The groom wants a snickers cake, so hopefully I can figure that out! And thanks for the congrats... he is such a sweet baby and I feel truly blessed!

My duaghter loves daisies, so I've got quite a few daisy cutters. I haven't yet gotten one that makes gerberas just like I want them, but I think the cutters below will do the trick. They'll be on my next purchase. I think these are from Nicholas Lodge, but they're probably available at most large sites.

One of the best things, IMHO, for making good-looking daisies is the daisy center stamp. I've also seen this at numerous sites. You just roll up a ball of gumpaste and stick it in the mold and pull it out. It makes a beautifully detailed daisy center in a flash. You get an assortment of sizes from teeny tiny on up to quite large. Daisies just go together in a flash. You can make tons of them in no time at all.

Here'a picture of the cutters I'm talking about - and a picture of one of the daisies I made using a less-detailed cutter...but showing how well the center thingy looks.
