ahh. the ultimate question... if only there was an answer.. since we continue to buy things, we will never have enough room.. LOL

I have found that the small clear craft boxes at Micheals (1.99) hold wilton colors perfect, they also hold tips great too. (too small for Americolor). As mentioned those clear tall roller carts. I have two of those, plus I have a whole bedroom dedicated to storage - my kitchen is overflowing, i just bought 2 tall wooden bookcases and so now it have moved into my dining room.
Ugh... I now what you mean, I tidy and try to organize and then go look for something and can't find it.
My mom told me I should move all my food out of the pantry in the kitchen and put it on shelves in the garage and put all my cake stuff that I use everyday in the pantry.. ha ha.. told me I use the cake stuff more than I do food for cooking.. so true!!

anyway, here is a thread that has already started, and it has alot of great ideas..

I bought a big fishing tackle box for most of my little 'bits', flower cutters, stamens, flower nails etc, anything that would get lost at the bottom of all the big boxes of stuff I have. I am very happy with it, although hubby was trying to talk me into a big red metal tool box with drawers (Craftsman I think) that I could wheel around, he said it would be worth it but I thought it was too expensive. I'm a lucky lady I know!

I second the tackle box idea for little things. I have one for cake stuff and one for sewing stuff. They work great and there are so many of them out there you can pick the kind that works for you. My cake one has small compartments on the top and a couple of big ones on the bottom. My sewing one has three pull out shelves for little things (not sure how to really describe them) and a big space underneath. My friends laugh when I say I buy cake stuff from Bass Pro Shop and Home Depot, but it works great!

I looked UP in my pantry and over my pantry door there is about 2 feet of empty space so I'm gonna put a white wire shelf up there to store pans that I don't use much (like character pans, or 18" 1/2 round). With the shelf being wire, I will be able to look 'through' it to see what I need and that will clear out room for my flat stack of cake boxes! icon_smile.gif

I got the idea, now I just need to do it!

I've just noticed I wall in my furnace/laundry room that is empty. I've decided to hang my pans on the wall. A lot of them have holes in them.

Hope this helps. I do have the big rolling tool boxes, two of them. They are wonderful!!!!! But I got them from Harbor Freight. They were a lot cheaper. For my pans I use the large clear storage tubs. I keep a list on the outside of each tub of what pans are in them. I have a small tackle box that I take with me when I deliver a cake in the event I have to make repairs. I have a coat closet that I put wire shelving in. I keep all my fondant, mixes, sugar, shorting, etc. in it. LABLE EVERYTHING!!!! It really makes it a lot easier to find things. We built a new home a few years ago and have been using the old one for storage. We are in the process of cleaning and clearing it out to put in a commercial kitchen and office. I hope this will help solve my storage problems, for a while anyway. We seem to gather so many "I really need that" things. I hope I gave you some ideas. have a great day thumbs_up.gif .

Organization - I love it. Ok, I might like it a little too much, but when I look for something I find it right away. icon_wink.gif
I use these really cheap containers I got at target. Clear with Blue lids, I have about 25++ for all my small stuff.
Cookie cutters by season or theme, Chocolate accessories, cake accessories, Flavors, Colors, Sugar for spinkling and so on. I basically divided everything by theme and labelled the box, so when I need something I just grab that and go. (unfortunately these are kept in the armoire in our bedroom at the moment, as there is no room in out kitchen. Actually all my baking stuff except for my KA and my measuring items are in our bedroom. icon_cry.gif ) Eventually we plan on re-doing the kitchen and everything will have a place. If I can ever get a legal kitchen (my goal, then it will be all there on nice little shelves!) icon_rolleyes.gif

For my chocolate mods, same kind of thing, 2 of 18 gallon clear containers. They are full now, so I have to get new ones for the next theme purchase. icon_razz.gif I seperated all of them by theme and put them in bags in the containers.
Then I have 2 more 18 gallon for my cake pans. I have to get 2 more just to be able to get them split by theme properly and be able to find them a little easier - right now, it's by size and whatever fits into what - stacking in a box.... icon_cry.gif
When I organized everything I inventoried most of my stuff by taking pictures so if I am looking for idea, then I can just check those out quick. It's good for my friends to look at too.

Good Luck . icon_lol.gif

I have a moble wooden island that holds all of my stuff. Then in that island there are containers that organize things into catagories
