OK, this is what happens when you hide your confections (including dropped on garage floor ones) in the oven and forget that they are there when heating up for dinner, OK, chicken strips are going to be late tongiht, Oven is cooling so I can pull the plasic out of the bottom, have 2 burns to show for it already and the house stinks!! Sigh........... dunce.gif

Oh no, you poor thing.

That could happen to anyone! Looks like you have a great attitude about it though.

I'm so sorry!!! icon_sad.gif

I left a plastic bowl on a stove top before and didn't realize it was on (electric) - needless to say when I picked up the bowl the bottom and whatever was in it stayed on the stove!!!!

I fear something like this will happen every time I bake a cake. Even with two fridges we don't ever have room for my cakes I bake, and with the countertop not being safe from the cat and dog I store my decorated cakes in the oven until I can bring them where they need to go. I always write a really big not and cover the controls that says DON'T use the oven...precious cake in side---lol

Well, now I don't feel so bad..... icon_lol.gif

Similar thing happend to me recently. I made these really nice Barney cookies for my daughters birthday and I left them in the oven to dry overnight. The next day I was going to bake some cupcakes and put the oven on preheat forgetting that I had the cookies in there. Well, when I wanted to put the cupcakes in the oven that's when I realised the cookies were in there. thankfully they still looked fine. I could see a hint of brown on the purple icing but DH said they looked and tasted fine. HUGE lesson learnt for me. icon_smile.gif

I hid my dish drainer i the oven once when we had our house listed for sale and people were coming to look at it. I forgot it was i there and did a great job of baking it!

I also did this with pizza once. We had ordered pizza and I stuck the boxes in the oven (not on) until my DH got home, forgot they were in there and started preheating it to bake a cake.

Now I write a note and tape it to the panel where the control buttons are.

I have learned from growing up in my house to not store anything in the oven. We used to melt/burn so many things. I agree it is the WORST smell! We've forgotton about loaves of bread (great cleaning up the plastic) and us too with the pizza boxes! icon_smile.gif Guess we're all guilty of it. icon_smile.gif
