Anyone else get this response when they questioned her?

"I am ashamed to say it but that is my myspace page.
Please give me a moment to explain.

I have been teaching cake decorating to my teenage neighbor. She had expressed interest in learning cake decorating so I thought It would be a good idea that I teach her and she would have a positive female role model to look up to (considering her parents are not very "involved" in her life). She has really progressed and will be doing the graduation cake for the seniors at her school this year. I also introduced her to CC.

I had recently opened up my own biz, and many people have been telling me to open a website. Not knowing the first thing about web design and such, I allowed my teenage neighbor to set up a myspace page (upon her suggestion).

I had given her my digital camera to up load some of my pics, and we started work on scanning my 3x5 regular pictures to get them on the computer. She seemed to be on a roll, I checked on the progress I liked the background she picked. After that I started to get swamped with grading papers, field trips, and cake orders so I had not gone back on to the site, and I never payed attention to the pics because I know what my cakes look like.

Now today, my first period class was gone on a field trip so decided to jump on to CC. I notice the post by jen1977 about stolen pics, click on the sight, then I have to sign into myspace to see who it is, and to my absolute suprise IT IS MY SITE!

I them check on the comments section to see all the comments by distressed CC Members! I litterly had to evacuate all of my students that were hanging out in my class before the bell because I was starting to have a panic attack.

I will be more than happy to rectify all of this either by giving credit to the owners of the pics or completly removing the pics all to gether.

I am greatly sorry for this happening, and even though is sounds like I am make an excuse for my neglagence, I accept full responsibilty for not having taken more care in monitoring my site. Please accept my fullest appologies for this happening, I have nothing but the greatest respect and admiration for the members on CC; you are all like a second family and have been a great help inspiration. I just hope that the members of CC will not look at me like I am some type of "cheat" from now on. "

I read you are a catholic. It's not nice or in the bible to steal these cakes as your own or advertise them on here. Shame on you

Hopefully she takes all off and all is forgiven with her.

I still had her pages in my queue. She had 45 cakes posted. I scanned her pages and created a pdf - if anyone wants to see what she had on there, pm me and I will mail you the pdf. I used Adobe 7.0 to create them.

Her reason for doing this (excuse) sounds awfully familiar. Wasn't there one similar to that a few months ago? (Sorry, not trying to sound mean but it does sound familiar.)

I'm so upset she didn't pick any of mine. I might be honored. lol My camera flash is broken so all my pictures turn up super dark. So none of my pictures are up. My daughter has hers up on mine though.

I believe that this CC member has apologized for this and asked to be removed from Cake Central as a member. You can find her apology in the forums, it is locked.

If this is the same person, she has taken the pictures off the site and apologized. So let's let this go.....

Not having had anything on CC to steal (yet), I'm not sure if I'm the one to make suggestions, but it seems as though, if she's telling the truth, then the appropriate reaction would be to post a very large, very prominent public apology on her myspace (and on CC), specifically giving credit to the actual owners of those images and apologizing to them as well, and UN-private her myspace so that everyone can see that she has, in fact, done so, and can be sure that she won't do it again (since everyone can get in to see at any time).

And if she wants to continue to borrow images, she needs to ask nicely and give loud and frequent credit. It sounds like that's all everybody is asking for in the first place!

this is what she has sent me.

Dear Angela,

I am afraid to say that they have already banned me from the site (not that I dont deserve it for my neglagence) I cant figure out how to work my way around myspace to change things. During lunch I'll ask one of my students to figure it out. I had one of my 7th graders set the account to private because I was getting death threats. This is getting out of control and I have no way of telling the CC members my appologies. All I have been able to do is cut and paste the response I sent to you into all of the hate mail Ive been getting. Would it be possible that you could post my response for me? I would be in debt to your kindness.

Maybe you should copy the email you sent me and when the maintanence is done at CC post your appologize there. the problem is,is that people are not getting the credit for their own cakes and it looks as if it is your creations. Just do the right thing and give credit or take them down.

why don't we just go with breelaura suggestion and then we can drop? I do doubt the teacher fact only because what teacher can be on myspace and cc that long. I do not really care about that. Other members whose pictures were stolen definately need an apology and the pictures removed from the site and access to the myspace page to see that the incident can be rectified.

I think there is a watermark software out htere, but this is the way I do it: I use a picture edditing software like Photo studio. Open the picture and select the text tool. Then add the text I want, chage font, size and color if I need to. I usually leave it white.

I have just caught up with this thread and think I may the owner of the 'long' cars cake. I can't believe anyone would stoop as low as a snakes belly to do such a thing. And the response, including the spelling - well to me is utter back peddling rubbish and yet a further insult to the people on CC. To me, a blind man on a galloping horse could see through that load of old dribble. Watermarks in future people. I wonder if anyone has identified this person?
