Does this look like a giant cupcake to you? Or do I need to go back to the drawing board? Thanks for the feedback ladies and gents. Dimensions are approximately 9" h x 7" w Some family members couldn't tell what it was. *bangs head on KA*

Yup. That's a cupcake. Very cute idea. Did you make stacked layers or did you use some other filler. And what did you use for the liner?

WOW very cool!! I love your cupcake liner paper - it is way cool! I think the only thing I would change however is maybe making the top taller and puffier...If that makes sense. I know my cupcakes always over flow on the top. Good luck! icon_biggrin.gif

I think it looks great. I would suggest trying to make the liner more "cup" shaped, though, if you can. Right now it's straight from top to bottom, while an actual cupcake is smaller in diameter at the bottom than it is at the top.

I'm not sure if you can do that - depends on the shape of the cake inside. You could either pull the bottom in a bit, or try to get the top to go out a little.

Yes, it looks like a cupcake, but I too would try to narrow the bottom and maybe have some of the icing come over the edge of the paper, or do a swril of icing. Looks great and we all want to know about the cupcake paper.

looking good - i like the idea of the frosting swirl that kae suggested, but in the end it's yours and if your happy then that's all that matters. thumbs_up.gif

I did one similar to this and I ended up taping some of the folds at the bottom of the paper wrap together in order to make it more narrow at the bottom and wider at the top.
Whether or not you end up changing anything, it is a cute cake!

I'm doing a tuturial for this one but I might tweak it a bit before posting it. The cupcake liner is scrapbooking paper folded into accordion pleats. Super easy but looks great. Kaescakes & kkhigh, I thought about carving it into the cupcake shape but what stopped me was the liner. When I wrap the liner around it, it's going to look great if I'm looking at it straight on but the view of the liner in the back won't be lined up because of the angles of the cupcake. Does that make sense? I'll put a disclaimer on it saying, make sure you display this cake with it's back to the wall. icon_smile.gif Hmm..I'll try to figure something out. Yes, I think I'll definitely build up the dome a bit more, thanks for all the suggestions!

what if you dont tort the top of the cake and just use it as it comes out of the oven. That would give it the mound on top a little. For the wrapper it looks great love the pattern.
