Hi Everyone,
Well you might remember my last post over the weekend about my mad customer and me deciding to maybe hang up my apron. Well the decision was made for me!!! See I took this bakery job last May when the bakery was sold so I started basically with the new owner. Well today my boss called me to tell me he has sold the bakery BACK to the original owners!!!! I knew that he was not doing well in the bakery and I also knew that the owner wanted back.
Well before it was a mom and pop organization and the husband baked and the wife decorated cakes. She has a new job now which I know she likes.
Anyway all the older kids are coming back to the bakery also. I'm not sure about the wife though. Either way I know my cakes would never be "good" enough for them. They owned the bakery for over 30 yrs and are very set in their ways. I kind of feel like a big boulder has been lifted off my shoulders so maybe it's a good thing. I guess I'll just decorate cakes for family and friends now. Of course I'll still be around here to see what is happening but I guess I won't be posting any new pictures. They take over on May 12th so I guess that will be my last day also.

Well, sometimes things work out for the best. But don't say you won't be posting new pics! Your cakes are great. Be sure to post whatever you work on for family and friends. If I didn't bake for family and friends, I pretty much wouldn't bake/decorate at all.

If you are feeling like a weight has been lifted off of you, then this is a good thing. Enjoy the fact that you can make/decorate anything you want now! icon_smile.gif

I hope you keep posting pics of cakes you make for your fam/friends. Your cakes are really great. What are you talking about not being good enough? Plus, there are more bakeries out there if you ever want to do that again! Keep your chin up.

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update on my bakery job. I went into work yesterday to find out that the new owners are letting go ALL the employee's except one lady who is the sister of the NEW owner. I figured I would be gone but was very surprised that they are getting rid of everyone else too.
Guess it will only be family in the bakery now.

That's really sad to hear. When is everyone's last day? That is so not fair, they should give everyone a severance (sp) pay! Not fair!!

Hi,
Our last day will be May 12th. Mine might be sooner since I only decorate cakes and if there are not cakes then I don't need to be there. I'm fine with this situation but I feel sorry for the counter lady since she is a single mom and really needed the money. I asked her today if she could collect unemployement but she is not sure. I have to say when the lady who is staying (sister of new owner) came into work yesterday she looked pretty upset herself. I really think she felt bad about the situation and told me that she would miss me the most!!

You don't have to quit making cakes, in fact, you might enjoy it more now, without having someone looking over your shoulder all the time. Your cakes are beautiful!
