I Need Icing Suggestions...help

im making a graduation cake and will be using bc freezing method for a graphic on the cake. id prefer not to use bc icing for the rest of the cake... i was thinking fondant or a lighter, less sugary/sweet icing. any suggestions? has anyone used fondant with royal or bc decorations? im just wondering if that would taste alright. any thoughts will help greatly
the only suggestion i would have would be an italian meringue buttercream - it's light and not overly sweet
