Im making a popcorn box for my daughters birthdya and have a questions. I am going to frost the cake and maybe use red fondant for the stripes (any suggestions would be greatly appreciated) I am wondering about a transfer??? I wanted to take a piece of white fondant and transfer the popcorn box design on it....

I did a popcorn box cake for the 5 year wedding anniversary of a couple who got married at our movie theater. I baked and stacked 2 8x2" square cakes, frosted it in white butter cream, put stripes of red fondant around the cake, and I used a small tart pan to cut out a piece of white fondant to look like a big piece of popcorn to put on the side of the cake. The picture is in my photos.

There's quite a few popcorn box cakes in the gallery. Hope this link works:

It looks like some in the gallery had a simila idea, but I was thinking that you could use white chocolate-covered popcorn to top the cake. You just pop a bag of popcorn, melt a bag of white chocolate chips, then mix. Lay it all out of wax paper to dry. In the end you may have to break a few pieces apart.

That would give a popcorn look with a sweet flavor to go with the cake.

TxAgGirl - I love your idea to use choco. covered popcorn. I have always used mini marshmallow cut up and they get really hard. Thanks!

Moydear77 - is your popocorn just fondant balls with a blossom on the bottom? They look really great!

I have heard about marshmallows but I never thought about them going hard and stale (but then again, doesn't fondant?).

I love the idea of the white chocolate covered popcorn - I just struck up a deal with the local chocolate shop in town and they make the stuff .... hmmmm ideas are flowing!!!
