My First Fondant Bow & Pearls.........
Decorating By kerri729 Updated 16 May 2006 , 5:09pm by dandy207
I did a bd cake for my step daughter's 18th birthday party. The cake is iced in BC, bow and pearls are fondant brushed with pearl dust. This is my first at both- I do not like the bow- does anyone have suggestions on how to piece it together, so the center is not this sloppy.......anyway, she loved it- she loves pink and no one has ever made her a bd cake before.
There is an article on this site explaining the process of making fondant bows. I've only made one and I wasn't real thrilled with mine either. Very cute cake, though. I'm sure she loved it! ![]()

Hi,
Your bow and pearls looked good.
I don't see anything that you need to improve.
I like it...
Your cake look so cute. Like the colors..
I love white w/ any color. ![]()
The cake is really lovely.
You did a beautiful job smoothing the cake. I love the pearls on the bow. If I could just make a suggestion about the bow. The bow is a bit too large for the cake, it's not quite in proportion. If you make the loops shorter and also roll them out thinner, you would like it better in regards to this cake. I found that you need around 17 loops for a bow. The instructions on CC are really great and helped me a lot when I had to make a package cake.
Vicki,
Thanks for the suggestion- I kind of thought that after I put it on the cake- it looks similar to how I wrap Christmas packages- too much bow, and it was kind of heavy for the cake, and sunk in a little. Hopefully, with practice, I will get better at this! ![]()
