I am a bad girl because...I just ordered stuff that I have never used before but I always hear it mentioned on here...so I thought I would give them a try. I ordered the creme bouquet...so what is the flavor of this stuff...how do I use it (like in place of vanilla or something?).

High ratio shortening? Same as I would crisco or less or what?

And gumtex...that is what I mix in with my fondant to make it get hard quicker right??? Will this have directions on it?

Oh thanks for your help

lol...one question...why did you buy them before all the questions? lolol

i am not sure what the first is.

the shortening you use the same cup for cup oz for oz and yes the gumtex will help the fondant dry faster and keep from absorbing moisture from the air if any is present.

Creme Bouquet has a citrus flavor. Sort of Vanilla, Almond, and lemony mix. It is pretty good. I use it in my NFSC and BC.

When I read your post I just had to laugh...you know that you are truly an addict when you order stuff that you aren't really sure what it is, but if it has to do with cakes- you know you already love it!!! That is soooo me! I buy stuff and then "figure it all out later".

Have fun with your new "toys"!!!!

LOL I knew I'd look goofy for posting this but hey...LOL I wanted to try it..I THOUGHT the creme bouquet might of had a more marshmallowy (not a word I know lol) flavor, AND it is hard to find hi ratio shortening where I live and I wanted to try a few different BC's before I got hooked to one.
And the gumtex....well I am scared of fondant but I am in the process of making a cake that has some fondant decos. soooooo....I have new toys coming and I am happy icon_biggrin.gif LOL

Some people consider creme bouquet "the wedding smell" of cake. I personally detest it. To me, it tastes like creme soda.

Christi, DON'T be afraid of Fondant! I was too just a month or so ago and can't believe I was ever afraid of it after the first time I used it. It is totally fun to work with and play with. I am already making my own fondant, Toba Garrett's recipe and let me tell you, it is to die for in taste! It is a bit more difficult to work with than the Satin Ice or Wilton so work with those first then give it a try. I hear the MMF is easy to work with but I am so sold on TG's that I am not sure if I will try it now! LOL icon_lol.gif
Anyway, jump in to the fondant world and you will be shocked at how easy it is to use..........AND FUN! I see your cakes and believe me, you will have no trouble at all.

Creme Bouquet is a staple in my kitchen. Use it in place of all other flavors as you do not need to combine it with anything. It is fabulously delish!!

As far as the creme bouquet...I use both it and vanilla in my BC. I use about 1 tsp of vanilla and 1/2 tsp of creme bouquet. I really like the flavor. But I have heard not all creme bouquet brands are the same. I have the Parrish's brand and it is great. I've read on here that some people have bought a different brand and it didn't compare.

yummy, creme bouquet icon_smile.gif I just bought some yesterday and added it to my raspberry cream filling, got RAVE reviews!!! I also bought some gumpaste mix and some high ratio shortening. I LOVE the shortening, it made a HUGE difference in the consistency of my buttercream. Hope you liked all your stuff too!!

Interesting! I bought some at Sugarcraft a couple of weeks ago and tried it in my buttercream! One of my regular customers called me and said "what have you done to your icing!"....not in a good way! I usually use Creme Royal (more buttery vanilla than citrus). My customers (more than 3 of them) did not like the Creme Bouquet! WAH! I love trying new things, but this won't be one I do again soon! I used slightly less than 1 tsp in my recipe cuz it is pretty strong stuff! Oh well!

I was told not to make any more cakes for the family to eat....lol. My sister actually bought me some dummies so she won't be tempted. Apparently she is trying to lose weight and I keep feeding her cake!!!!!
