of some people. Just finished 2 dozen baby shower cookies as seen in my photos (bottles, buggies, rattles and the last pic of onsies). Delivered them and when I got home, I had accidently left 2 out. Called lady and met her to give them to her.

She asked if I could do less than that on a future order. I told her I could do as many or as few as she needed. She was talking price!!! She said if she gave me a big order, could they be cheaper? I told her I would have to think about that. Explained that cookies are very time consuming and more would not be any better than 2 dozen as they all require the same time to dry and attention to detail.

Holy cow--what are they thinking? I don't charge enough anyway.

Sorry--submitted before I was through ranting. She went on and on about how adorable the cookies were and the "girls" were going to have a fit.

I know what you feel, people just want to pay for the cookies, not the work. they don't understand it! they think it easy and fast, when it's not. She probably doesn't bake at home!!!

Most people just don't realize the amount of time and effort that go into these. It's not like you are stamping them out on a machine.

well if she loved them so much, she should be happy to pay full price for them. People always won't to try to bargain. surely she wouldn't go to the local bakery & try to haggle them down on price

If I were you, I would call her and just kindly and truthfully explain that I really don't feel like I can go down in price because of the time involved. Then she is educated and can make her decision from there. If she likes them enough she will order them again; if she doesn't, well, at least you will not feel like you are doing cookies for free.

People are the same way about cakes too!!! They just don't get the time that's involved... that's why wedding cakes are the best profit!

BUT DON'T GIVE IF ONLY YOU KNOW THE TIME AND LOVE YOU PUT FOR THINGS TO COME OUT NICE TO TELL HER THIS IS NOT BURGER KING SHE CAN'T HAVE IT HER WAY. LOL.

I know what you mean!! I get so tired of people raving about my cakes, and how lovely they are, blah, blah, blah, but when I give them a price, they hesitate, and say they "don't know". (And I tell them very low prices for the work and attention I put in!) Whatever I guess....go to Walmart and get a cheap one...you get what you pay for!

With the time involved in cookies and cupcakes I would have laughed in her face.
People seem to think that the little details are the easiest. My MIL was looking at one of my yearbooks and liked the turkey cupcakes in it, I told her that I think they're cute but I hadn't done them because it's quicker to just make a large cake. She then told me I could use vanilla wafers for the bodies and it would cut the decorating time, I broke the news that piping the body wasn't the problem it was the little feet, eyes, etc on the cakes that took the time and she told me "oh, that looks like it's just 123." Can you tell the woman doesn't decorate?
I don't decorate that kind of stuff very often, only if it's something the kids want really bad.

Tell her sure... but only if she is willing to go to the Store to buy your supplies, mix the cookies, bake them, decorate them and clean up after.
