I deliver assembeled all the time! The key is "gluing" the cake board to the ring with royal icing. Give it time to set up before moving. This works so well that after the layer of cake is gone. You simply pull the board up and the ring comes with is. Then you have to break the two apart.
Great idea...but every wedding I've attended they dismantle the cake for serving...not sure that would be possible if it's royal glued together, especially if it's over 3 tiers? Any suggestions?
You could put a hole in your boards and place them down on top of the dowel. I've done that before. When taking the cake apart you can just pull the whole thing (cake board and ring with legs) out of the cake and sit on the table to cut. The legs are stable. A lot of times they pull the top layer off and sit it on the table for diaplay (ring, legs and all)

I had hoped to use the "plates" instead of cakeboards....so if anyone else uses seperator plates w/ this system, can you tell me how you keep the cake from shifting during transit if preassembled....using the stress free system, of course?
