I Am Curious How Many Of You Do This...........

I am by no means good at flowers. I just made my first bc roses the other night. I am very envious of the gumpaste flowers that everyone does. I just visited Cakes By Sam's website and see that many suppliers sell flower sprays. Do some of you just buy these or do most of you make your own. I am considering buying a spary for a cake but what do I do when the customer is so impressed and ask me how I did it....do I say thanks and move on or say, well actually I bought them. Just curious how many of you actually buy sprays instead of making them yourself.
I see nothing wrong in telling the customer, if they ask, that you have someone else do the flowers. This is a cost/time issue. Is it cheaper, cost and time beneficial to order part of your product than having your business produce it? Most of the time. When you look inside the companies of today, half of the product is made overseas and assembled here.
Still, I am sure you are better at the flowers than you give yourself credit for. Keep practicing and practicing, lol. Also, check out some classes in your area. I think if you go to the Wilton website, you can do a search for them. It is always nice to get pointers and see how other people create.
Best...
I purchase most of mine. For the time involved in making them it's cheaper to buy them most of the time. If someone wants them "home" made - i'll make them but they'll pay a premium for my time.

Well boy do I feel dumb!!! I look at some of these cake pictures and know that my gumpaste roses and such NEVER look as perfect as a lot of them I see....never freakin' dawned on me that some of them are the purchsed ones!
I sure feel alot better about life now. ![]()
