Help! Grainy Buttercream

Hi,
I made a batch of buttercream using half crisco and half butter with 2tbsp of meringue powder. It is very grainy! How can I correct it?

It is most likely undissolved sugar. You can try re-beating it.

Did you use off-brand powdered sugar? That is my most-likely culprit. Especially Wal Mart or Target brand. Bad! Bad! Stick with C&H or Domino's or some reputable name.
