Over the weekend I made my first 9 x 13 cake. The corners didnt come out that great but just something I have to practice on. So, since I had a good surface to work I thought I would try my first FCBT. The directions on this site are great. It was actually very simple to do. Wow, that was a lot of work but very worth while. It seemed to be very thick once I placed it on the cake. Is it suppose to be about a ¼ thick? So please check out my giraffe in my pics and let me what I need to improve on.
Thanks,
Lisa
Aww, that is too cute!! Not what I had in my mind when you were saying "giraffe", I was just thinking of like, a still picture. It is very cute!!
Wow! I think it's great!!! That's a pretty big transfer for a first and it turned out wonderful!!
They are supposed to be about that thick.
I don't see that you need to improve on anything, just wanted to offer the advice that most people put a small border around fbcts. But, I think yours looks fine without a border.
Great job, the colors came out perfect. Very nice
yeah, like was already said a lot of people like to put borders.........I've made them.....the wolf one in my photos is a fbct and what I did was smoothed the edges of it once it was on the cake......well....I placed it on the cake, then frosted the rest of the cake around it...then stuck the cake in the fridge and the bc got firm then I just used my fingertip and smoothed the edge........but I've done them also where I measure the whole top of the cake minus the edge border and do the fbct background the same size so when you put it on it's the size of the entire top of the cake!! This works really well too. You just have to be careful when working with large ones because they can break...but I haven't really had any breakage issues YET!! LOL
Awwe, that is totally cute!!!! I did my first bct this past weekend too, but it didn't turn out anywhere near as well as yours. I had major issues with my black out lines. What tip did you use for yours?
Thank you everyone for the comments. I wasn't sure if it should come out that think. Yes I probably should have put a border around the transfer but I was just so tickled I forgot about doing it. I like the idea of smoothing the edges around it instead of a border especially on this design as then it would blend in more with the cake. Thanks.
dolcesunshine20 I used tip #2 for the outline as well as most of the filling. Tip #1 for the narrow fill ins.
good job... i just did my first BCT over the weekend also (you can see in my pix)... i was so happy when it turned out, i ran all the way across town with it just to show my mother! i used a tip 2 for all the lines (except the small detail ones where i used 1 also).
